What does Hachette Children’s Books publish?
Hachette Children’s Books publishes a wide range of fiction, non-fiction, illustrated and children’s books under imprints including Lothian Children’s Books and Hachette Children’s Books Australia. In general, the Australian publishing division of
Hachette Children’s Books does not publish short stories, anthologies, educational material or poetry.
Hachette Children’s Books also distributes titles from its overseas companies (see about us for more information)
What is an Imprint?
Hachette Australia has multiple imprints within 5 separate sales and marketing divisions; the different imprints are used to market the books differently. In some cases, this diversity has resulted from the takeover of smaller publishers (or parts
of their business).
Where can I buy Hachette Children’s Books titles?
Hachette Children’s Books titles are available from all good bookstores, and if your local bookseller does not have a title in stock, they can generally order it for you. We do not sell books through our website.

How can I obtain a copy of your current catalogue?
The current Hachette Children’s Books catalogues can be viewed online and downloaded from our catalogue section, this section is only available to retailers with an ADS account.

How do I find a book by Hachette Children’s Books that is out of print?
When a title goes out of print, it is generally considered no longer available. Sometimes, however, a book which is out of print can be found through:
- A visit to your local second-hand bookstore
- An internet search. Try sites such as www.biblioquest.com.au: an Australian specialist search service for out of print, rare, collectable books and faulty books.
How do I write to an author?
The privacy of Hachette Children’s Books’ authors is very important so we cannot release personal contact details for any author, under any circumstance. However, we will forward correspondence to authors on behalf of readers.

How do I report a faulty book or printing problem in a Hachette Children’s Books title?
Faulty books (e.g. with printing or binding problems) should, in the first instance, be returned to the original place of purchase. The retailer can assess the fault and offer a replacement book.
If it is not possible to return the book to its place of purchase, it can be sent, along with a letter explaining the problem to:
